Let’s refresh the color black in our eyes by pointing out its beauty.

Most ink is the color black. Foremost, the Qur’an is most often written with black ink as well as its translations. The Qur’an is the spoken word of the Lord and He Willed that black be the most common color ink for His Divine revelation.

The calligraphic name of Allah ﷻ, Muhammad ﷺ, and the rashidun caliphs (Allah be pleased with them) are also most commonly written in black.

Bilal (Allah be pleased with him) had black skin and he is so close to the Lord that he will enter paradise even before the prophet Muhammad ﷺ. He was the caller of the azan, inviting people to prayer and be in communion with the Lord.

Most of the hadith are also written in black as well as other Islamic books.

Narrated Abu Huraira:
At the time of the Fajr prayer the Prophet (ﷺ) asked Bilal, “Tell me of the best deed you did after embracing Islam, for I heard your footsteps in front of me in Paradise.” Bilal replied, “I did not do anything worth mentioning except that whenever I performed ablution during the day or night, I prayed after that ablution as much as was written for me.” [Bukhari]

It was narrated from Sulaiman bin Buraidah that his father said:
“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to Bilal: ‘Come and eat, O Bilal.’ He said: ‘I am fasting.’ The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘We are eating our provision, but most of Bilal’s provision is in Paradise. Do you realise, O Bilal, that the bones of the fasting person glorify Allah and the angels pray for forgiveness for him so long as food is eaten in front of him?’” [Ibn Majah]

The kiswa (covering) of the Ka’ba is also black. Black is perhaps a color of covering something sacred. Women in ihram also wear black.

The Arabs used to call dates and water eaten together al-aswadaan meaning “the two black things.” In Arabic grammar this is called taghleeb (التغليب), where one word has preponderance over another in the dual form.

‘Urwah from ‘Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) reported that she used to say to Urwah (May Allah be pleased with him):
“O son of my sister, by Allah, I used to see the new moon, then the new moon, three new moons in two months, and a fire was not kindled in the homes of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). “I (‘Urwah) said, “O my aunt, what were your means of sustenance?” She said, “al-Aswadaan (the two black things): Dates and water. But it (so happened) that Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) had some Ansar neighbors who had milch animals. They used to send Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) some milk of their (animals) and he gave that to us to drink.” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

Additionally, most writing in general on Earth throughout history in every language is written in black — school textbooks, calligraphy art, handwritten notes, business agreements, sales contracts, everything.

Chinese calligraphy that says “there is no god except Allah”

The pupil of your eye is black. We all see through a black hole in our eyes, which is this color because light is absorbed inside of the eye or diffused inside the eyeball.

A black pixel barely consumes any electricity. It is the most power-efficient color.

Most khuffayn are black, which are a sunnah to wear.

There is also the Black Sea, north of Turkiye.

What other beautiful examples of black do you have?

And Allah knows best.
